Welcome!

On behalf of the team, welcome to the How To Be Promotional Blitz site!

Let us tell you about the site.  Initiated by tMF (the Movie-Fanatic), this promotional site is the work of volunteers who aim to provide a much-needed buzz for filmmakers Oliver Irving and Justin Kelly initial movie offering, How To Be.

With a cast that includes Robert Pattinson, Rebecca Pidgeon, Jeremy Hardy, Johnny White Mike Pearce and Powell Jones, the movie is a comedy about Arthur, a twenty something who moves back in with his parents, hits a quarter-life crisis and enlists the help of a self-help guru.  It's a timely look at the increasingly common phenomena of grown-up children living at home, frustrated creativity and self help.

How, you ask? It could be as simple as clicking 'send' on an email. Oh! Well look here...a letter, already drafted up and itching to be sent to movie theatres and film distributors... [ read more ]

Written by Tracy Garrett
Thursday, 18 December 2008 00:00
Well, How To Be has wrapped up a busy year of film festivals and premieres, but the director and producer of the movie are still hard at work. This update from producer Justin Kelly was posted at the Support How To Be Facebook page:

Thank you very much for your support for this film! We are working on securing distribution partners around the world. Further news will be released asap via the news letter at www.howtobemovie.com. Thanks Justin (Producer)
In addition, this update was posted on the Official How To Be Facebook Fan page:
Hi guys, sorry we haven't posted for a while. As you can imagine, the Twilight release has made us very busy! Hope you all enjoyed their movie! We humbly submit that ours has fewer action sequences but a better soundtrack : )

How To Be will certainly be available both to download and buy on DVD. We're still figuring out the details, but we hope to make an announcement soon.

We also have some festival screenings to announce and we'll post back here when we have locations and dates.

So sorry we have nothing concrete to report, but we do read your posts and are very grateful for all your support and enthusiasm!
If you have not signed up at the official How To Be website to be on their email list for updates you can do so here.
And don't forget all the ways you can support the movie:

The year 2009 looks to be a great one for the film. Stick around, more updates are sure to follow.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: How To Be Filmmaker, Oliver Irving!
Written by Jed Medina
Friday, 28 November 2008 00:00
The Movie Fanatic recently contacted the filmmakers of How To Be, Oliver Irving and Justin Kelly for an exclusive interview. A lot has been discussed, and among them, the amazing performance of Robert Pattinson in the lead role as Art.

A couple of weeks passed and Rob won his first award as Best Actor for his role at Strasbourg International Film Festival. tMF also did a spotlight review of the film, highlighting the strong and memorable performance of Mr. Pattinson.

Now, let's have more of Oliver Irving as the Project requested a follow up interview with the filmmaker!

Writing, directing and producing movies is certainly not for everyone. In your case, when was the first time that you really made the decision to pursue a career as a filmmaker?

pattinson-oliverirvingIt’s strange but there was never a moment where I made a conscious choice. I became obsessed with cinema from the kind of age where you can’t remember there being a time before. Perhaps it was when I was 4 and I saw Ghostbusters five times at the cinema – I kept dragging a parent along to go take me again.

New How To Be review from NYC's Gotham Film Festival
Written by Kelly L. Concini
Friday, 14 November 2008 00:00

The Gotham film festival was a happy success for our New York City fans. Not only did How To Be screen twice, but director Oliver Irving was able to attend and participate in a Q&A for both of those screenings.

Our friend Kelly was able to attend one of the screenings. She was kind enough to share with us her thoughts on the film...

Albert Camus wrote “You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of.” In other words, our efforts to find happiness keep it at a distance from us and ironically thwart us in our search. How to Be is Oliver Irving’s film about a depressed man on such a journey to find happiness. Through the film, Art tries everything he can think of to make himself happy. Art believes himself to be unhappy because he compares his situation to others and doesn’t live up their standards. It is only when he figures out his mistake that he takes his first step toward being happy. The film, which center’s around Art’s plight, is funny, heartbreaking, touching, and honest.
