Welcome!

On behalf of the team, welcome to the How To Be Promotional Blitz site!

Let us tell you about the site.  Initiated by tMF (the Movie-Fanatic), this promotional site is the work of volunteers who aim to provide a much-needed buzz for filmmakers Oliver Irving and Justin Kelly initial movie offering, How To Be.

With a cast that includes Robert Pattinson, Rebecca Pidgeon, Jeremy Hardy, Johnny White Mike Pearce and Powell Jones, the movie is a comedy about Arthur, a twenty something who moves back in with his parents, hits a quarter-life crisis and enlists the help of a self-help guru.  It's a timely look at the increasingly common phenomena of grown-up children living at home, frustrated creativity and self help.

In the Independent Film world, we know that sometimes these wonderful films don't always get the recognition and distribution they deserve. However, in doing a little research I found that occasionally fans can help remedy this.

How, you ask? It could be as simple as clicking 'send' on an email. Oh! Well look here...a letter, already drafted up and itching to be sent to movie theatres and film distributors... [ read more ]

Another Chicago Screening Sold Out
Written by Tracy Garrett

After what the festival organizers describe as a "Beatles-esque response", the second 5:15pm screening of How To Be on March 8th at the Chicago International Music and Movie Festival has sold out, with a limited number of seats reserved for CIMMfest Weekend Pass holders on a first come, first served basis.  Due to the number of requests for information, the festival has posted additional information about how the screenings will work:

REMEMBER: There is a suggested donation of $8 when you pick up your ticket; you don't HAVE TO pay, and you can pay less than $8 if you want, but keep in mind that your donation will help keep the festival around until next year, and maybe Robert Pattinson will be in another movie then. And you might look like a cheapskate in front of your friends if you don't pay anything.

THE VENUE HOLDS A TOTAL OF 290 SEATS FOR EACH SCREENING. All 290 for the 3:00 screening are already taken. For the 5:15 screening, 215 seats are already taken, and the other 75 seats are being held for CIMMfest Weekend Pass holders. See below on how that will work.

IF YOU RESERVED A TICKET OR TICKETS FOR THE 3:00 SCREENING

Come to the Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington, second floor GAR Hall will-call station, well in advance of the screening. We will have a list of the names of people who reserved tickets. We check off your name, you get in line for seating, and the first people in line get the best seats. If seats are unclaimed at 5 minutes after showtime, we will release them to the public. There will be a 20-minute short film shown before the 3:00 screening.

IF YOU RESERVED A TICKET OR TICKETS FOR THE 5:15 SCREENING

It works mostly the same as the 3:00 screening--if you have a ticket reserved, just come early, tell us your name, get in line, and when the doors open you can take a seat.

There you go.  So be sure to get there early and be prepared to support the festival with your $8.00 donation.  Weekend pass information is available here.
