THE WINNERS! tMF's Viewers' Survey - Is Robert Pattinson all hype?
Controveries and hot topics

Last June 13, tMF asked viewers their thoughts and opinions of Robert Pattinson's acting career.

Rob remains a perennial favorite @tMF and we'll continue to write interesting (and  provocative) articles about his acting career. I listed down "5 essential questions" that covers a lot of grounds in so far as Rob's career is concerned. The first 100 posters qualify for a surprise gift from our anonymous donor (hey! how's Hongkong and chinese food?) and as expected, the fans really participated in the survey and the quality of the posts were quite impressive - 12 of which we're simply awesome IMO.

Before the announcement, let me just list down the questions:

1. Is Robert Pattinson all hype and no (or little) talent?

2. Do you think Rob has improved his ways in dealing with the media frenzy from the time he was cast in Twilight until now?

3. Which of Rob's up and coming movies (choose only 1) do you think would further give him the critical acclaim he deserve?

4. Who is Rob's most important rival as Hollywood's Next Golden Boy?

5. Name the actress (aside from Kristen Stewart) who would look awesome acting alongside Rob and would generate a lot of buzz?

Here are the 3 winners (in random order) - of course, right after the jump!

From Rose:

1) Give him a half-decent director and a good, well-rounded script and he has potential. He’s like a young Colin Farrell. Maybe he doesn’t have all the tools right away but he’s getting there. I remember when I first watched the Haunted Airman I wasn’t impressed at all by what I saw in the first half but I was very surprised how quickly things turned around during the latter half when he’s losing his sanity. I thought Pattinson was brilliant in showing how he was slowly declining into a mental abyss.

2) He’s alot more at peace with it now. Before he seemed completely taken aback and thought the hype with eventually die down. Now that he realised it hasn’t, he’s become smarter in his dealing with the media. But to be honest, I like his early dealings with the media. He’s an interesting character and that makes him interesting to watch onscreen.

3) Bel ami. By portraying a playboy he can draw on his heartthrob status to an almost comical effect. We’ve seen him dorky, broody, flamboyant and now we see him charming and conniving. With theatre director Declan Donnellan at the helm, it will be brilliant.

4) Chris Pine. He has the talent, the looks and the all-important male audience.

5) With Keira Knightley in a comedy. It could be called ‘When Great Jawbones Collide’. The posh accents, their forthrightness, their knack for telling funny anecdotes... it would be genius casting.

From Guadalupe:

1. Absolutely not. Hype can only get you so far. Younger fans are usually blinded by looks and what not. But Robert's fan base is made up of intelligent and older fans. We aren't just dazzled by him, I assure you. We see the bigger picture. He's one that will steal me away in a theater. I don't even notice those around him. He demands my attention on screen, that is a gift for any actor. One that isn't taught. You either have it or you don't. His musical ability will put legends to shame. He has the most raw and passionate voice that I've ever heard. One that put you to tears. It's mesmerizing and completely hypnotizing. I can't begin to explain how his music makes me feel. It's like I was listening to real music for the first time. A voice like his does not go unrecognized. I believe he will be given compensated rightfully so in the near future. So no, he isn't just hype.

2. Other actors in his place would get big headed. Robert hasn't changed in the least. He now seems more comfortable with it, like he's trying to wrap his mind around this bizarre world surrounding him. From afar he must think everyone has gone mad. I'm not surprised that he's remained himself through out this entire thing. From the get go, you could tell he wasn't like the rest of them. I'm proud to call myself a Robert Pattinson fan.

3. Unbound Captives. Even though it's a supporting role I think it show that he's willing to try anything. He isn't afraid to get down and dirty or take a back seat from time to time. Right now he could get just about any lead role but he chose that one. It says a lot about him. Not only does he have to learn a new language but this role is going to stretch him to his limits. It you read the script, you'll understand what I mean. I eagerly awaiting that movie.

4. Probably Shia LaBeouf. He's very good at what he does. I'm confident that Robert will be the last man standing.

5. Olivia Thirlby is fabulous and has amazing skills. I hope they will get to work together in the future.

From Mel:

1. I would need to see more of his work to really be objective but I don't think it is all hype. I think he truly has talent, but he is still young and growing in his abilities. I don't think he will disappoint.

2. I think maybe he has been dealing a little better but I don't know that he will get much better any time soon. I think it would be hard to go from a barely recognized actor to not being able to walk out in the streets without being mobbed my fans.

3. I think maybe Remember Me, could probably do it. It's still a romance but it's a departure from Twilight.

4. I would probably say Emile Hirsch. I think they have done some similar material, though Rob has done some bigger known movies, but I think they both kind of fit in the Indie seen more.

5. Zoe Deschanel, I think they would look great acting together and maybe Zoe could help him develop a bit more.
